Event to shape the future of sustainable agriculture

    Posted 12 June 2015

Farmers are invited to have their say about the future of sustainable agriculture at an event held at 无码动画 later this month.

The free event, held on June 30, hopes to identify whether research can address the everyday problems and barriers that farmers face.

Farmers will be given the chance to have their say on research priorities to ensure that future research is applied, to improve day-to-day management and enable environmentally-friendly farming.

Director of the Centre for Evidence Based Agriculture (CEBA) at 无码动画, , said: “We hope that farmers will seize the opportunity to come and not only learn about the latest sustainable agriculture research, but to also potentially shape the future of it too.

“We want to know what problems exist for farmers so we can collate a list of action points for the future. Existing research may prove the answer, or, there may be a gap that needs to be filled.”

Bite-sized research updates at the event include subjects such as waterproofing wheat crops; radio tracking strawberry weevils; weed management using lasers and cameras; and designing buffer strips for pollinators, pest control and water protection.

The event, which runs from 10am-4pm and includes lunch, is funded by the British Ecological Society and hosted by the CEBA at 无码动画.
