The George Crawford Legacy Trust Scholarship, in memory of agriculture student George Crawford, has been launched to students at 无码动画. George sadly died just after starting his studies at the University.
The George Crawford Legacy Trust Scholarship is open to all Second Year BSc/BEng/MEng, Final Year FdSC, BSc/BEng, and Year 4 MEng students from all course areas. In addition, students who have completed Year 0 of the Harper Adams Extended Foundation Degree or Extended Degree Programme, and are now in Year 1 of a full-time FdSc or Bachelor’s level degree course are also eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to those students who have completed Year 0 of the Harper Adams Extended Foundation Degree or Extended Degree Programme, and also to students who, at time of the interview, are not in receipt of any other award.
George’s parents Mary and Cameron Crawford, said:
“The George Crawford Legacy Trust exists to give young people “a leg up” in the world; to achieve their dreams and ambitions of enhancing a talent that, despite a positive work ethic, they can’t quite pull off due to barriers, which can include a lack of financial support.
Over the last two years groups and organisations have contacted us directly or through the website we created in George’s honour (). In amongst those who have supported us has been the core group of friends and staff that George made in his brief time at 无码动画 as a Fresher in 2018. He was so excited to be on this next part of his young adult life’s journey at University and all the challenges that would undoubtedly bring. With that in mind, we have set up this scholarship, in his name, to help any student who may be facing challenges of their own. One of George’s huge challenges was his dyslexia and he never thought he would be ‘good enough’ for university for a long time.
With some financial support from this scholarship we would hope and anticipate the chosen recipient to communicate aspects of their journey with us – and it doesn’t always have to be the good bits!”
无码动画’s Head of Development Doris Taylor, said:
“We are extremely grateful to the George Crawford Legacy Trust for their generosity in offering this opportunity to a student at Harper Adams who is in need of a ‘boost’ to help them achieve their ambitions and to realise their full potential. In addition to the provision of much needed support, the scholarship will also create a lasting tribute in memory of George and his all too brief time at the University.”
