Harper Adams’ English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) course is designed specifically for colleagues in higher education who deliver content through the medium of English as their second or other language. It aims to improve confidence and communicative clarity in many aspects of content delivery and interaction.
The intensive two-week course is for academic staff who work across joint partnerships in a Trans-National Education setting and combines input and practical sessions with workshops and practice. The first week of the course focuses mainly on the classroom environment and the second on communication skills more widely. Both weeks include an opportunity to teach in a peer- and tutor-observed setting. Participants will be given a certificate of completion from ÎÞÂ붯» which will make a significant contribution to continuing professional development.
This course is an excellent grounding for academics who wish to continue their professional development by gaining a Certificate in EMI, offered by Cambridge Assessment as an institution-delivered six month online course.
