How are short courses different from either undergraduate or postgraduate degrees?

Short courses at Harper Adams are designed to offer focused, practical knowledge in a specific area, helping you quickly gain new skills or enhance your expertise and career.

Unlike a full degree, which takes several years and covers a wide range of topics, short courses are more flexible and fit around your personal or professional life. They’re perfect if you’re looking to upskill, explore a new field, or boost your career prospects without the long-term time investment of a full degree. While all short courses may not give you academic credit (some will), by studying with us we will always supply you with a certificate of participation.

How do I book on to a short course?

Do I need to have any prior experience before doing a short course?

Whether or not you need experience depends on the short course you’re interested in. Some of our more technical courses – like our Veterinary CPD – require specific background knowledge or skills to support you through your learning; while others are open to everyone, no matter your experience.
