The process is designed to be straightforward, leaving you only to decide what course to choose and where to study.     What application deadlines do I need to know?

    UCAS offers several entry points and application routes, giving you flexibility to apply when the time feels right for you and you’re confident with your application.  

    The main UCAS deadline is usually in late January, but if you're applying for veterinary medicine, you'll need to submit your full application by mid-October. From February to July, Extra opens, which provides another opportunity to apply before Clearing begins.

    What if I’m not sure if I can get my predicted grades?

    Don’t worry – these things happen! While we do have typical offers for each course, we also consider individual circumstances and can provide contextualised offers to better reflect your personal circumstances.

    Can you explain the new personal statement changes?

    For any student applying to university after 2026, the personal statement format will be changing from a single longer piece to three shorter sections.

    These new ‘support’ questions are designed to make things clearer and more structured, giving every applicant a fairer chance to showcase their strengths. The new questions will cover topics like:

    • Why do you want to study this course or subject?
    • How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?
    • What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful? 
    I’m a mature student, does that affect how I apply?

    Key dates and events

    29 January 2025

    The initial UCAS deadline.

    February – March

    Student Finance applications typically open in late February or early March.

    February – April

    If you hold an offer with us, we’ll invite you to an Offer Holder Day between February and April.

    April

    Our student accommodation platform opens for applications.

    May

    If you applied by the January deadline, you’ll start to receive decisions from your university choices in May.

    May

    Student Finance closes. Please check your country’s student finance website for specific dates.

    June

    If you received all your offers in May, you have until June to decide your firm and insurance choices.

    July – August

    It’s results day! It’s now time to either confirm your place at university or explore other options through Clearing.
