    Using Library Services

    Studying in the Library

    You may walk in and use the study space of your choice. There is a silent study room upstairs and  a range of individual seats on both floors. There are also group study rooms upstairs which you need to .

    Library card

    Your Student ID card is also your library card. The card can be used to:

    You can put money on your card using the . If you lose your card you should obtain a replacement from Student Services.

    Help 

    The Welcome Desk on the Ground Floor can help you make the most of using the library and its services. Ask any questions you have about finding and borrowing books and our other services.

    Self-service machine

    Use this to use to issue and return books. There is one on both floors of the library.

    Lockers

    There are six lockers located on the ground floor that can be booked for the day. Ask at the Welcome Desk for further information.

    Information Services

    IS Service Desk

    The IS Service Desk, located on the first floor, provides advice and support with all IT and Audio-Visual (AV) related issues.

    WiFi

    Free WiFi is available in the library. Visitors should ask at the IT Service Desk how to connect to the wireless network. All students are provided with details of how to connect to the wired and wireless networks on arrival at the university.

    Other facilities

    The Bamford Library building is also home to the Kaldi Café and the Engineering Design Centre.

    Rules

    The library is a shared space, so please respect other library users. We have very few rules in the library. 

    Please follow these rules for everyone's benefit: 

    • keep noise to a minimum - the library is a place for studying.
    • hot drinks are only allowed in mugs or cups with a securely attached lid
    • cold food may be eaten in the library, but not hot food
    • switch your mobile to silent.
    • tidy up rubbish.
