More than thirty companies attended the event, delivering a varied programme of talks and workshops throughout the day, offering students guidance on career planning, professional development, and the skills necessary to excel in their chosen role.
Helen Cartlidge, final year Veterinary Nursing Course Tutor, said: “It was great to see the second interprofessional careers event be such a success, with students from across both courses, and multiple years of study, engaging with representatives from our profession.
“This year introduced several smaller interactive workshops, with students practicing their ultrasound and surgical skills, getting a close up look at what a farm vet needs to carry in their car, and practising their interview skills.
“The best part of the day, though, was to hear the companies talk so positively about our students and how enthusiastic they had been during discussions with them.”
Viki Weigh, Head of Veterinary Partnerships and Placements at the Vet School, said: "The Interprofessional Veterinary Careers Day was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the collaborative nature of veterinary practice, and highlight the essential role that both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses play in delivering high-quality patient care.
"Working alongside our Vet Nursing colleagues to deliver this event emphasised the importance of teamwork and interprofessional learning, ensuring that students gain a well-rounded understanding of the profession. It was incredibly rewarding to see students engaging with industry professionals, exploring career pathways, and gaining valuable insights that will shape their future in the veterinary field."
